Ops wrong picture….now I can’t delete it
Ballarat today
Someone turned the big fan on again.
Driving around at work since 5.30. So far the tally of big water over road inundated fools witnessed (so far mostly indian best selling car, Uber hybrid Camrys), stands at 6. And the supposed main sky river front isn't anywhere in sight. Waste of precious emergency services time wasted.
Thinking of our SES legends on days like this. Last thing they need is deal with morrons.
Hope the rest of you folks are all good and covered.
We’ve only had 6ml in Heyfield, mate at Cobden had 40ml, Rochester 90ml & flooding the Main Street, mate at Marong sth of Bendigo had 60ml the other day & another 60ml overnight up till 10am this morning & still floggin down, water is a metre deep on his river flats that have never been more than a foot deep at worst in the past.

I'll just park this here.
I'll park these next to yours PeeBee.
The photo with the bridge isn't even a creek or river it's a road . Sunday creek is 1km to the north.
It made its own spillway using a road. And this was 4 hour ago.

With all due respect, 30+sunscreen in the west.
Yeah really hope everyone fared OK. A lot of areas I went to, people are just stranded and blocked by floods and road closures rather than being directly impacted.
Not sure if I heard correctly but they reckon it's all gonna peak tomorrow arvo, despite major rain stopping last night.

Only pic I have. I had to make a few diversions to get out of Eltham this morning as the Diamond Creek near split Eltham in half. The creek pictured is usually running about 2 meters wide and down about three metres in a gully.
Pic taken at 6.30 this morning, by 8 apparently it was half way up the rails.
My rain gauge check this morning….

definitely copped it here mate. our lead in street has been trashed. absolutely could not get in without a raised vehicle(as in SUV or larger) and even the neighbours territory bottomed out coming in last night. i hope this means our suburb finally gets what everyone has been asking for for ages... proper drainage. yes i know vast quantities of water fell but all our blocks are sloped so running water always has somewhere to go, but never anything to guide it, generally it just takes the most obvious path... wheel tracks.
Us Mexican Hillians might have to petition for a dam build to feed Melbournites at the end of our usually bone dry old gold mine creek beds and driveways next year [emoji51]

Apparently Yarra ranges council don't deem this impassable road to anyone but 4wds a high enough priority. Our neighbour rang up to complain as her mustang couldn't get out and the lady suggested she should buy a 4wd instead... Bit average imho. I made a road unsafe incident report to VicRoads last night and they are finally doing something out it. These pics taken this morning.Attachment 86165Attachment 86166Attachment 86167Attachment 86168

Jeez mate. More river than road!
Buy a 4wd so you can get out of your own driveway/street? Very average response from the council.
That "rut" river in the middle of the road will start cavitating deeper and begin to saw the road deeper. Hard to tell in the photos, but there seems to be a slope to the right.
Now i'm not a geologist, but isn't this a recipe for a landslide?
Roads have been stuffed/pot holed everywhere for ages, especially in recent months with the big wet. I know for a fact VicRoads have NO $ to fix and maintain them. Hence why you see the "Rough Road" signs everywhere, even on major highways. For example, might have to start airing down on Calder Fwy soon, it's that bad! I've driven Warburton-Woods Point rd in a far better condition than Calder.
There was a HUGE dip on there for, literally years. 100km/h section. At the "dip" exist there was major gauge marks from peoples suspension, sumps, trailer A frames bottoming out... Used to see cars damaged on the side after the dip ALL the time. Took them SO long to fix, that they actually had to re-new the "Rough Road" signs , because they faded and deteriorated.
Drive to Ballarat the other week and missed most of the pot holes, expect one and this was the result.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...2022/10/93.jpg

You hit the nail on the head there Hodgey mate- we’re run ( & advised) by over educated but inexperienced, self entitled arseholes. We’re f@%#ed.
Sadly Nico that’s an all to common site, water running down rds because they don’t do any drain maintenance anywhere. Yes I know there have been extreme storms but even the smallest of rain showers runs down the road these days because all the drains are blocked and unserviceable. Out at Nar Nar goin there is a big rough patch just before the Shell, I hit it in the truck one night & it speared me across the road, then just up the rd there was 4 cars pulled up with the hazards on with blown tyres/ bent rims, been like it for months, they’ve ‘patched’ it a few times but it blows out straight away, they just put rough road signs up there what a joke
Our Aussie Shared Mexican Yarra is only a TAD overfull merely halfway upstream and coming down to Melbourne town, wonder if MW-Corp might chuck in a few dollars/hours to help leasehold graziers throughout the valley below clear out their owned tributaries [emoji848]
