Can anybody suggest the best method of drying out my GU carpets? the water crossing i did on Sunday was a little deeper than i bargained for. I am trying to dry it by leaving the windows open through the day, but it is still sopping wet in there and i think it will start to get a bit smelly if im not quick. It is muddy water by the way.

Hey buddy, seats out and if you can't take carpet out for a few days, chock it up with some timbers, bricks, what ever you can get in there to raise it and let some air flow in there.
x 2. even if you can't be bothered taking the seats out take the carpet up where you can put chocks under everywhere and leave the doors open too.
I have been known to sit back for an hour or so with the hair dryer under the carpet too...lol
saw a car detailer get seats and carpets pretty wet while cleaning same, then he got stuck into them with a wet/dry vac. Probably not as wet to start with as a flooding in a crossing.

I have raised the carpet as suggested and the car is sat at home with the doors open. hopefully a little drier when i get home.
I had a mobile bloke come around and do mine after I flooded it - bought the carpets up trick, and took (no joke) just shy of two full buckets of water from the apparently only wet carpet - my point is if you've flooded it, good chance there's a lot more water in there than you may think ...Quote:

I ended up removing most of the insulation / soundproofing as the carpet is rubber backed and pretty dry.it Will be much easier to dry out if it happens again.
