Yes you can, lots of the kits are nylon anyway, they need to be 75mm minimum diameter tho.
75 mm nylon shaft does cost a bit too, depending on the grade.
Then you need to replace all the bolts for longer ones.
If you go to a turning shop, they often have off cuts of acetal or nylon, that's where I get mine but I also have a lathe.

just go to bcf and get boat rubbers they have a crush tube in them as well
