Rd28t engines
Hi
I am about to take possession of a 1989 GQ lead sprung tray back.
It was used as an engine donor and so needs an engine.
It will be rebuilt to be registered but will see most of its work on a farm. Hence power not such a huge priority
TD42 engines seem on the expensive side and was wondering about the availability of rd28t engines.
Hopefully this would be all I needed but also allow a straight through registration process when the time comes.
Does anyone know of potential bear traps to avoid on this pathway?
I suspect they had different diff ratios? What about gearboxes and bell housing patterns?
Does anyone have one for sale per chance?

Welcome to the forum. RD28 engines use a different gearbox than the TD42. What engine was in it originally?

It had a TD42.
The young blokenthat gave it to me bought it to steal the TD42 to put in a petrol station wagon he made into an extra cab.
So it a rolling vehicle just without engine. 5 speed gearbox, centred rear output on the transfer and plated as a GQ but otherwise it looks just like and MQ tray back.
