AI and what it means for forums
I over the last 12 months there’s been an obviously intrusion onto this forum (and I imagine every other enthusiast forum) by AI bots. They’re still pretty obvious though due to their overly formal grammar and naive approaches for information, but this is early days of the technology and it will get better. And get better quickly.
What do people think about this? I think it’s all data/information gathering.
At 51 I’m stuck in my ways and prefer to think who I’m speaking to is a human who may or may not agree with me, and then reply accordingly, rather than me saying something to a bot who then analyses my thoughts, remembers them and keeps that all on file. Bloody scary stuff if you ask me!
FWIW, I just bought a robot vac last week, made in Choina. I set it up and let it rip and she’s a beaut. But to control it you need to download an app and browsing through that app I find this thing has a camera and a microphone on board. Why?? So now I’ve got a Choinese spy sitting in my house watching and listening to everything that goes on.
Hello Tik Tok.
I found the disable function so turned that on but that was only due to me digging deep into the app. Bloody hell nothing is sacred any more.
Take me back to the 90’s and park me there please. I think we hit the top of the parabolic arc of quality of life in this country in that decade.
