ZD 30 Tensioner

Hi, I'm brand new to forum and haven't found my way around yet, i'm sure this subject has multiple treads already but,
Has anyone used the patrolapart billet manual tensioner. I have a bucket full of old auto tensioners and enough belts to make some sort of adventure playground.
They seem to last about 12 months for me on average.
I am not a mechanic so have a couple of questions,
1. is the lack of any shock absorbing type movement any problem?, and
2. how often will the manual need adjusting, is that an easy operation?

I didn't get any replies to my question, i decided to instal the patrolapart part anyway. No Problems so far, nice and quiet.
