Knowing that oils are specified by manufacturers to meet EGR requirements (maintaining lubricity with added soot). If EGR is disabled/blanked, can one pick a non-specific engine oil that isn't ACEA E7/JASO DH1 for example?

Of course they can but what would the benefit be in doing that?
