Hey fellas,
Just noticed a bit of an oil leak today when having a look under the bonnet.
Looks like it must be coming from the turbo somewhere, any ideas?

Hey mate, she's a bit messy i reckon give it all a good clean then should be able to pin point where it's coming from when it rears it's head again. Bit hard to tell when it turns into a sludge fest. . .

As above give it a good clean, looks like it’s breathing heavy and leaking out of the join to the crossover pipe.
Check for any cracks on that black hose, check the clamps are tight on that spot.
I’m assuming your breather is recirculating back into the air intake?

If your breather is still connected to the intake I would clean that area up, check for leaks, cracks, tighten as above and see if more oil comes out.Quote:

Check for how heavy it’s breathing from that little hose too when you disconnect it.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Iv pulled the crank case breather hose out and there’s absolutely bugger all blow by.
Iv gotta do a service on the weekend so I’ll give it a good degrease then and keep an eye on it.
If I temporarily vent the crank case to the atmosphere what’s the best way to block the hole on the air intake?
Also are there any seals inside the turbo that are common to leaking?

If you’re just doing the test then I wouldn’t stress too much about the way you block the intake just for a couple of days no off-roading, literally tape it off or something.Quote:

Probably not what you want to hear but also good news!
If there’s no blow by then engine and other things good : tick!
But possible turbo leak.
Clean it all up, disconnect breather, etc and drive.
You’ll still have oil in the compressor of turbo and that pipe so it will still leak a little bit for a few days, I would maybe drive it with no breather recycling for a week and keep cleaning to see if oil is building or getting less, if that makes sense.

If it is a seal it would be perfect timing to upgrade the seal...lol
It’s a turbo out job normally and sometimes not cheap.
