Tb42 missing
Hi have a gq patrol tb42 petrol carbie, it runs like a dream normally but over the last week it will just at random mostly on the highway start to miss under load and will continue all the way home, when driving up a hill it gets worse and loses speed i have changed points and fuel filter but still having this problem any ideas? Just pig roots,
Any help really appreciated

Possibly the leads are breaking down or the dissy cap is cracked, or tracking. Needle and seat sticking or fuel pump not up to scratch.

I will replace leads, spark plugs, dissy cap and tracking needle tommrow and see how it goes

Just checked my earth and found it was dirty gave it a spray with wd40 dont have a wire brush here and sprayed the top of the dissy cap. Took it for a drive and no problem im almost going to hope its just a dirty earth or when i sprayed the dissy cap it sealed a crack maybe

Good find. Because the body mounts are rubber, earthing is a a simple but common cause of electrical faults. I have run a couple of extra earths from the body to chassis at the winch on the front, at the trailer plug on the rear and the body to the block. I also sealed the connections with a bit of fish oil.

Great idea, also changed dissy cap, leads to and tracking needle will see tommrow if its worked

Needle and seat is in the carby, and it is attached to a float that regulates the fuel level. The tracking refers to a carbon track or fine crack filled with carbon that the high voltage follows to either earth or another cylinder's circuit.

Ok if it plays up tommrow i will look into it, i replaced the dissy rotor not needle and seat
