Experiences with aftermarket free wheeling hubs

Hey all,

Does anybody have any experiences with after market free wheeling hubs? I have one knackered hub so need replacing. I can buy one new genuine hub from overseas for $420 or a pair of AVM hubs for $300, or these non-branded ones from Superior Engineering for $150. All links below.
I'll use a set of these regardless of which hubs I end up using

I had the AVM hubs on me old 40 series. Worked well although the tiny allen keys can round very easily and then theyre very difficult to get off without destroying them which is what ended up doing in the end. Went back to the standard toyo aisin hubs. If it were me I'd stick with the standard Nissan ones not sure about the copies might be good but not sure if its worth it especially with something as important as that. .

Winnie, I replied to this post and it disappeared?? Anyway, my stock nissan hubs look like the bottom picture and are still fine since 1997. I run the outer ring washer as well. My brother ran the aisin hubs and they were rubbish - might have been a bad batch?

Thanks guys, pretty much confirmed what I already thought.
Might try my luck with a 2nd hand one, got a mate with one up the road for $90.
Found evidence of water getting into mine which has seized it. Should I now do the whole swivel hub seals on that side? The other side has been done not long ago.

Dont bother mate. I bought a pair of aftermarket ones last year and the entire Licola trip I had the left front hub making this god awful clunking noise when decending hills. Turns out the hub was not engaging properly on the gear and it was jumping on the teeth. I ended up buying OEM hubs. I have comapro pics somewhere on this forum. Can get an OEM hub new for around $400...

Edit: Found the pics.
The pic of the hub where the gear bit moves in and out on. You can see its already has a crack through it, and its brand new!

Check out the height difference of the gears, and you can see the rounded edges on the chinese gear on the left from jumping in the hub.

Yeah wow that's crazy but what you should expect for the price I guess.
I picked up a 2nd hand genuine one today so hopefully it lasts. It was off a late model GQ and had a rubber boot on the selector, I'd never seen it before.
