Hi all. My brakes on my GQ keep locking up after a while of driving. Ive bled the brakes. But you drive for about 10- 15 mins then they start compressing in slowly til the car stops. Dont know if after a while it builds up pressure or something but i dont know. I had to get out and crack the nipples to let fluid out. They are disc brakes on the back, anyone know what it could be?
It could be that the slides are sticking. It's fairly common especially if it's had some off road use.

I've had seized slides and they tend to wear one pad and not work to well, as apposed to gradually clamping on..
Only an idea but is it possible for a internal vac leak to apply force on the piston to press the brake in the master cylinder??
Wouldn't that mean they are locked on when the engine is off and no vacuum?
Hey Rob, do they gradually come on if you drive without using the brakes?

Well if a vacume leak is pulling the brakes on it would happen gradually due to vacume only being there when engine is running / driving.Quote:

Thank taslucas. All good pulled callipars off and because the patrol has been sitting for a couple of years all the gease in the slide and boots have dries up and all tight so must have been when i used the brakes it wasnt retracting back to where they were supposed to be and just kept tightening up every time. Degreased the boots slide cleaned it up greased it all up well and been driving very good. You guys wouldnt happen to know there are two screws on my carby that tighten in and out for adjusting something just not sure what they are for? When i left it idling it just stopped but mucked around with the screws now it doesnt stall when idling.

Um the screws on the carby would most likely be mixture and idle

Sorry for the late reply. The top screw adjusts the idle speed and the one at the base changes the air fuel mixture. Page 1-18 section 17 and picture 17.4 in the Haynes manual should set you right.
