Hi guys top o the day to you all re turbocharging gq y60 what is the maximum boost the td 42 can take.

For regular day to day use and reliabillity on an otherwise standard engine 14psi is about the limit. Correct tuning is very important for reliabillity when you modify an engine. A fully race prepared intercooled TD42 could handle up to double that with correct tuning.

I run 13psi on mine and it has got bigger injectors, and a dyno tune. it hasnt skipped a beat. and there has been times where i have given it a flogging

It also depends on the condition of the engine too. if it has a poor sevice history and is sludged up it wont really handle a turbo at all
