Bleeding brakes

Im about to install extended brake lines and looking for some brake bleeding tips. Ive never bled brakes before :1087:

I have heard of the gravity method, is this suitable when there will be bulk loads of air in the system?

My plan is to start at the proportioning valve, then passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger front and lastly drivers front calliper bleeding points.

Let me know how you did yours after fitting new brake lines/callipers etc

Started rear left then rear right then front left then front right basically atart furthest away from the master cylinder.

Clear jar some clear hose is needed.

you will need to put some clean brake fluid in the jar about 25mm. The hose needs to be imerssed by the fluid in the jar and connected to the bleed nipple.

pump brake pedal two or three times then hold down, easiest done with an offsider

While pedal is depressed open the nipple and let air and fluid out.

Tighten nipple then release pedal.

Repeat until no air comes out. this is why you have a clear plastic/silicone tube so you can see air bubbles and also air going into the fluid in the jar.

Repeat process as order above.

NOTE Keep an eye on the fluid in the master cylinder if it runs dry you will need to start again.

Note you only need to crack the nipples 1/4 turn

You can do by yourself:

You need an air compreesor(small workshop type is best), with a regulator on it,
A spare brake master cylinder lid and a male air line fitting.

Fit air fitting to lid by making a hole for fitting and secure it with a nut. The fitting needs to face up so air line connects.
Place lid on master cylinder.
Set the regulator on compressor to 5psi and connect air line to new adapted lid.
Turn on compressor and bleed brakes.
Check fluid reguarly, remembering to diconnect air lin first.

Never heard of that before! Using air to bleed the air out of the line! Im guessing its just enough to push the fluid though the lines with the air bubbles out the bleed nipple.

Sounds similar to the gravity method, but would be much quicker

Anyone used the gravity method with success?

I like the sound of that Tim. Do you need to depress the pedal?

No the pedal pressing is force fluid down line, the compressed air becomes that force.
