Rear window shades
I've now seen several Patrols with the silver rear cargo area and barn door window shades. Some looked like they were a proper purpose cut shape and size, with the black edges. I'd like to help the fridge out a little bit ,by keeping some heat out.
Do these work and if so where does one get a set made ?

They do and here's a place that make them

^^^ Expensive though....
I made my own out of garage door insulation from bunnings. Got a roll cheap it is thick air cell insulation and simply cut it as a tight fit for the windows then slip the edges under the trim. Holds solid as.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...015/11/194.jpg

Well it's been 2 years since I started this thread. This afternoon I had a crack at making my own... Was tidying up the garage over the weekend, and I came across some insulation that goes underneath floating floorboards, we had left over from doing our floors many years ago. It's silver/reflective on one side, and white on the other...
I don't know how much sun reflection properties this thing has, but it's something.
So the idea was to tuck the edges behind the trim like sooty_10 and mudski suggested. But this material is rather thin so the trim was not gonna hold it up as it won't sandwich it between the trim and the window.
So I improvised with some duct tape lol . It looks a rather amateur attempt with the tape but it's holding it up great.
Time will tell how they go. At the end of the day it cost me nothing and any sun reflection away from the rear fridge area will help I guess.

Does anybody know the legality in regards to not seeing behind you via review mirror ?
I had most vision behind me even with cargo barrier etc... But..
After putting these shades up it's now it's game over.

I can’t imagine it’s illegal Hodgey mate. Loaded utes, bread trucks, Ice Cream vans under 3.5T all get away with it? Maybe wagons could be different, Aussie Design Rules never seem to amaze us for sure bro :-)
