Hi there,
I have been doing some maintenance on my 4by.
I have one brake caliper on the rear where the pads have much different amounts of wear than each other.
Why is it that on one brake caliper I have one pad that is 5mm thick and the other pad is only 2mm thick?
Does the caliper get stuck or something, all the others front and rear have about the same wear.
It is so annoying, now I have to purchase a full set of pads for the rear disk brakes on my 4by.

never seen that before. Might be worth wile speaking to a brake specialist. hope the rotor is not warped.
Sticking sliders on your calipers mate.. not uncommon for a 4wd playing in mud and stuff.. make sure the rubbers are in good condition and not letting mud in.
one of the callipers could be sticking or the port in the master could be blocked, (seen the blocked port on falcons a bit when the fluid isn't changed often but usually thats on the front)
make sure the callipers slide easy. and sit even over the rotor.

My wife's commo had the same problem.
I had the same problem on my RB30. It was caused by a jammed slide pin. It needed fair bit work to fix it. I had to rebuild it. Slide pin wasn't easy to pull out either. You need a minor rebuild kit, which usually includes the piston boot, slide pin boots. You also need caliper grease, which usually come in little sachets. I used valve grinding paste to polish the slide pin and the pin bore. It was a good exercise, but would've been cheaper to get a used caliper from a wrecker or fleabay. Your's doesn't sound like completely jammed, so, it might be a good idea to pull it out, clean and lube it right now.
Were all pads changed at the same time, that you know of.
If not re-co the caliphers so they slide freely

By the look of the pads the whole lot, front and back were done at the same time.
I decided to do front and back this time as well.

I took the calipers right off and cleaned the slide pin boots out with a small brush and turps and re applied new grease.
I will see how it goes.

just so you know mate, you should be using rubber grease on all brake slide pins
