This is what happened when I tightened up the screws for the auto hub.
How soon should a be changed.
Funny thing was it didn't seem that it was all that tight

Should be changed asap mate. I seen you. Your name should be Arnold.
Whoah! That is unreal. Can't believe it broke like that!
I would definitely change it before you put it into 4wd next!
Forty foot pounds.
Not: "Do it up until
it snaps then back it
off half a turn!!!"
What about just 2wd on the road, shouldn't be a problem, right?
How common is this to happen.
It will be ok in 2wd ....
I fitted these to mine, not sure how much difference they make, but I imagine they spread the load a bit more than none at all.

I thought they would have at least some sort of a washer. You will probably find the alloy was already fatigued, and that was the final straw.
I'd just upgrade to manual hubs to be honest.
If the Hub is still sitting flush on its seat, I don't see a problem driving in 2wd, just make sure you're not leaking any grease.
Cheers!
Must of had your wheties for breakfast.
They may of already been weakened/damaged. Should be fine in 2wd for now. Change before you need 4wd drive though.
Thanks for the replies.
Don't what to get a second hand pair, so what you you people recommend as a aftermarket type.
