Clutch problem 1992 2.8td patrol

Can any body out there help me I have a 1992 2.8td 3dr patrol with only 55000mls on it I have owned it from new with no problems ,a month ago it was getting hard to select gears all the symptoms pointed to clutch master cylinder so I replaced it ,and it seemed to cure the problem for a while ,then the problem reappeared and it was impossible to select gears with the engine running ,then I lost drive completely so the gearbox came out and I found that the clutch had disintegrated which was surprising because there was no unusual noises to indicate that something was breaking up . The clutch has now been replaced but I am experiencing problems with the gears going in it seems that the clutch isnt releasing fully and holding the gears I have bled the clutch several times the pedal stays down and I have to lift it up when I am bleeding it ,can any body throw any light on what the problem may be.

In response to your issue above, it doesn't sound like you have bled the system of air properly. Normally you push the clutch in to bleed not pull the pedal out (if I am reading your post correctly)

I assume that you have machined the flywheel before installing a new clutch?

Also making sure that the flywheel face is completely clean of all oils, dirt and foreign material (including finger prints)?

When you replaced the clutch did you replace the slave cylinder as well? How about the thrust bearing and spigot bearing?

To help with the bleeding process, maybe invest in a vacuum pump similar to one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131208294...84.m1423.l2649

Hello to all Patrol owners out there I am a lousy Pom who loves my Patrol that I have owned from new since 1992.Thanks for the reply Rob I have fitted all three parts in the clutch the pedal stays down when I am bleeding it so I have to lift it so that I can push it down again, the master cylinder is new and the slave is in good condition and not leaking,the flywheel is ok as well .Is it normally difficult to bleed the air out of the clutch system on a Patrol.I will try to send some pics as soon as I have sorted the Patrol .
