Patrol track

Hi all

Pulling my hair out trying to work out what's legal and what's not. I've read the latest VSB relevant to my state which states that the vehicle track cannot be increased by more than 25mm, whether it's a fwd car or beam axle 4x4. This has been confirmed by phone calls to the RTA.
I'm curious as to what the biggest negative offset rim was ever fitted to the gq from factory. I've heard -13 before. If this is the case, does this mean that I can then legally run the -20 rims that I'm after(given that they sit within the flares)? This would give a increased track of 14mm.

Is this how it works? Or is there some sort of baseline where the track is taken?

If you look side by side from the first MK to the last GO all Nissan did was add a flare to each model
by the end they just put a rubber ext on. smallest rims fitted are a 5.5" and the biggest rim is 16x8
.
there was a wide wheel pack for one model GQ that used 15x7 sunnies.
Minus 13 sounds right for std OE mags

to answer your question mate.( I think )...the track is measured from the centre of the tyre (or rim on the car) to the centre of the other tyre.(or rim)...the OE track should be in your manual...if that hasn't added more than 25mm ( as you say ).after new tyres.then it should still be legal in your state...you will have to determine just what the minus represents in mm I suppose...

Looked in the Haynes manual I've got but can't find any track dimensions. Anyone got any specifications handy?

according to manual front track on a LWB wagon there are three versions
1555mm tyre size 235/80r/16
1605mm tyre size 275/70r/16 and 265/70r/16
1595mm tyres 7.50 x 16
they are OE tyres fitted

Get your centre to centre and rim offset and compare to other members
as long as you have rim offset you should be in the ball park.
What's your main concern if you go wide and inside your present guards
you should be legal ,shouldn't you

Bit more on the offset the OE 16x8jj
says 10 offset but neither minus or pos

According to the law I can only increase the track by no more than 25mm from factory.

So if anyone can confirm the largest negative offset ever fitted to a gq patrol from factory, then I'll have my answer.

I have a feeling -13 was the largest factory offset as that is what mine has with the factory flares that came with the wider wheels.
I have been considering swapping to -22 on mine. I'm pretty sure 12inch wide tyres on -22 will sit outside the factory flares. Is there any issue with rubbing or interfering with the factory flares running -22 offset if I stuck with my narrower 10.5inch wide tyres?

Hey drew, I always had 10.5" tyres on my - 22 rims, they sat inside the flares (just) and no rubbing. My new tyres, 12.5" on the same rims sit outside the flares (just) and rub on the flares on flex
