Generator Quiet Box

Hi.

Just thought I'd put this out there.

I'm trying to make an enclosure fir my Honda EU20i.

The main reason is to quiet it even further.

I have installed a James Baroud roof top tent which I am installing an Air-command Sparrow lightweight Air conditioner to.

As most of you know I work in very remote aboriginal communities where petrol sniffing is a real issue. Even though I will run the generator on opal fuel I don't want draw attention to the fact there is generator running.

I have seen this done before.

Here is what I have built so far.

External weather proof power point wired to 10A plug to plug straight into genny

I have also purchased an exhaust shroud to take exhaust fumes and heat out of 100L esky

In addition to the exhaust shroud I will also instal a vent that will allow the enclosure to be fully vented - the large ultra quiet fan will push a considerable amount of fresh air into the enclosure so I want an extra exit for heat air exchange.

I will also put an engel fridge thermometer into the enclosure to monitor temp.

I take it the fan is to let hot air out , you may need a shark gill style vent to let fresh air in

This looks great for what you want to do.
Won't the exhaust shroud lift the exhaust noise up. Especially when it revs up under load.
Would really like to see your results.

The fan at this stage is to push fresh air straight onto the side of the genny ( side service cover removed on honda)

I intend to add either an exhaust fan or vent to let the hot air out that doesn't get to exit through the exhaust shroud.

Cool ,and for locking it for safety reasons I'd be putting a large Harsp and pin lock on it with a big lockwood padlock
Those esky locks are useless IMO
I'd be ringing Honda Aust and get their thoughts on cooling their unit

Yeah security is an issue. Considering putting the esky is back of pod and running the exhaust pipe straight out to exhaust out side ute.

Secure and maybe quieter again.

The vent as pictured here would maybe go at bottom of pod between spare wheels at the bottom.

Due to having air con the roof top tent would remain closed up and vented from above.

It does what it's told to when it's being pumped out. You know, not too dissimilar to the exhaust on your car!

No the heat from the genset we were talking about.
Enclosing a motor in a box, exhaust isn't an issue
