So if someone asks me if i have EGR, am i correct in thinking that if my blow by is feeding back into the pre turbo intake, then i "have" EGR?
If i didnt "have" EGR then i would have either blocked it or have a catch can?

Egr is exhaust gas recirculation. It's a duct which runs from the exhaust to the intake.
People don't remove it as its a road worthy issues to do with emitions control so they blank it off.
The blow by is a smaller rubber tube from the rocker cover which is ducted to the intake.
Many exhaust this to atmosphere threw a catch can.
The cleaner the air going in the better the bang inside..
So to see if you have a blocked egr you need to look for a thin plate inserted between the flanges for the pipe from exhaust to intake..

What year model is your td42 some have egr some don't use the search function to find threads with pictures etc
Its a 05/99 build
Only the td42ti had an EGR
