Heres a pic of spring from guy up the roads RTC steering dampner.
Steel has just gone weird, its a well known brand, so I'll take it back on his behalf and see what they say, could have been a crook batch, so no point naming anyone. IMO

WOW!!
Thats Spring Steel! imagine a set of Coils did that!
Geez that's knackered! How long has it been on the vehicle?
Not even one year, IMO from my limited blacksmithing it looks like
the steel wasn't hot enough before being worked. it looks cyrstallized.
We'll see what the shop has to say, if others did the same then
maybe a few slipped through the cracks . Showed it to Billy bleed as he came around
his opinion was the same,"weird"
Never seen springs made from wood before.
I'll put it together and take a pic.
Nah still looks weird like string or rope
Nah I say wood also.......
Cheap Chinese crap.. your nearly right 3D. Its a fault right back in the extrusion stages. Impurities in the steel don't melt and you get delimitation. I only know this as I've seen it first and with sheet metal and flat bar. I've gone to cut the plate and when its hit the floor it splits down the middle..
I'd hate to know how many jobs out there are help together with delimited steel..
Not cool though.. thus why we buy aus quality 3D..
