Check the charge rate. If the battery is flat you will need to jump start it to do the test. The alternator should be charging at least 14 volts. The battery should be tested as well but you will need a load tester and hydrometer to test it. Also, make sure the alternator belt is still there, and correctly tensioned.

Check the battery charge wire on the back of your alternator has not broken off.
