Hi Guys Built this draw unit in the shed last week for under $450 , thanks to Bunning where everything came from !!!!! and it's just a basic unit that I can put all my sh!t in , house a spare battery and put the Esky in with tie downs . I have photo's and I try to as much info as I can regards Alex.
All sheets are 1200X900mm which I got 6 of them and sawed 3 sheets down to 450mm X 900mm
Draws are made from 1200X400mm sheets , left side was 800mmX590mm and the right 500X420mm which allow the spare battery to be housed behind it
Now your thinking there are bloody big draws and your right to hold alot of sh!t and my big tool box too............... LOL
Please Note: No roller bearings for side of draws !!! my are flat to the bottom with with 2x 50x22 mm and 1x 100x22 in the middle to support draw weight and sides very tight as you don't much movement on the go . I do have a brass to stop draw from coming out to far.
Looks good mate, for the sliding part of it can I suggest strips of nylon instead of the strips of ply you have there. You can lubricate the nylon with beeswax or something similar and would slide a lot better. Looks good though, not bad for a weekends work.
The Top was made out of 2 sheets , first 1 was cut down to match the left side with some over hang to line up with the base , the second sheet was left over piece which matched the right side and give me 1300X900mm Top to work with . I glued them to together and trim the 2 sides with 50X22mm and a 200mm X 900 on the right side to butt up to the patrol storage on inside of back.
As you can see there's a door on top to get to the battery, but I made a shelf on top of battery so you can put more stuff ... LOL
the carpet was $35 a meterand it was 2 meters anyway , so i got 2 meters which covered the unit and spare left overs
I used alot of screws and lickward nails ( 50% strong one) and reused the GU tie down backets and did all this last weekend , Hope this helps if someone else is going to make one up on there spare weekend :-) have fun cheers Alex
