Help, where does the nut/sensor the EGT gauge get connected to, get welded?

Hey Patrollers, i am in the process of attempting to complete NADS on my GU 3 and dont want to do the work myself, i would have thought this stuff would be easy for a specialist diesel workshop but apparently not.
Could somebody please tell me where the nut/ sensor get welded on the exhaust system, for the EGT gauge to plug into?
I am getting really frustrated as i now have the following parts sitting on a shelf waiting to be fitted, Boost and EGT gauge's, Dawes kit, Needle valve kit.
I booked it in to have the gauges fitted and got told they couldn't fit the EGT because the nut/ sensor it hooks up to isnt on my exhaust system, and i needed to get this welded on "its easy just take it to an exhaust shop and they can do it no probs" OK so i book it in to get this done and this bloke says "where did they say to weld it above or below the cat?" to his credit he just wanted to get it right first time.
So here's the piss me off, i cant fit the EGR block until i have Dawes and needle, i cant fit the Dawes and needle until i have the boost gauge to allow for adjustment of boost pressure, as i have got a pillar pod i don't see the point in having one gauge fitted at a time as i am not doing any of this work myself and dont want to book in twice for gauges to be fitted, and i cant fit the gauges fitted until i have this nut/ sensor thing fitted. AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The positive is that i showed the bloke at the exhaust place the layout of the Dawes and needle set up and he is keen to do the work which is a lot more than i can say for the so called diesel specialist i was having work on my truck, he is also prepared to remove a certain flow restricting device from the system (naughty but performance enhancing) so please can somebody tell me exactly where this nut/ sensor needs to be welded so i can get this done.

In your dump pipe as close to the turbo as possible. You may have a cast section then your exhaust bolts onto it wleding to cast isnt ideal so just in the exhaust pipe as close to the turbo as practical.

does anyone run their egt or even a second egt out of the exhaust manifold or is it pointless?

Pre turbo is more accurate as its closer to the piston and you will lose a lot of heat through the turbo hence 550C is your safe limit post turbo. You can run 2 it wont hurt and will give you the temp differential pre and post turbo. Pre turbo safe temps i think can be up to 750C. How efficient your turbo is will be what varies the temperature differnce.

i had the same trouble with mine, the local mechanics and even a few exhaust places had no idea and those that did wanted rediculous amounts of money so ended up buying the beaudesert 2 3/4 system wich has the hole already in it. wouldn't you know it the fitting the boost gauge came with was different because it was AUTOMETER but no biggy just went down to pirteck and got a fitting made up to suit then with the boost gauge just took the intercooler pipe into a fitter and had them brase the fitting in all up cost was
$1,240 exhaust (very happy with this mod!) $300 for the EGT/BOOST gauges, $25 for the brazing, $5 for the pirteck fitting and around a day to fit it all up! too easy cheers....

you could have got the sensor that you drill a hole in dump pipe and it clamps on

I have Autometer boost and EGT gauges. So this bit of advice has probably preempted my next stress causing problem. Thanks grimace
