Diff Ratios
Could anyone help me out in regards to swapping in 4.6:1 diff gears in my TB4.2 carby patrol (pet/gas).
Im after better gearing offroad... also would the 4.6's help my on road fuel economy also?
Im currently running 35inch tyres.
Any info would be appreciated
Cheers

Should be fine mate this will bring your speedo back into line also if running 35's all the time. And should help with fuel economy as it will get to a more efficient spot in the rev range with them and will make a world of difference offroad.

The speedo being correct would just be an added bonus :) yea I run 35's all the time, looks good, probably not all that sensible though :P
Yea that was my theory, I could really do with any improvements on fuel economy.
Yea can't wait, now i've just got to get my hands on some and fit them in.
Thanks heaps mate

Another couple of questions on that...
If I was to change to 4.6's would I then require a different locker?
Also what sort of price should I be looking at to pick them up for and does anyone have any for sale?
And then i'm assuming I could swap them over in the carport at home myself?
-
If its an air locker then yes as i thought they changed the whole lot when they went in. It all depends how competent you are but if you are pulling the actual centres apart this is best left for a diff specialist.
-
Can anyone help me out with some diffs from a 2.8L patrol then?
-
Throw something up in the wanted section bloke or have a look at the vendors threads, ebay, wreckers, gum tree etc for these secondhand.
-
Yea thats what i'm planning on doing. Cheers for the help mate

hi mate, being in WA you might try Brunswick Diesel for 4.6 diff centres, I know they scream for 3.9's to go in their v8 conversions, they probably have originals to get rid of. I recently changed my 3.9s for 4.3s in 4.2l gu and I love the change
cheers
