Diesel or petrol engine mate??

Petrol or Diesel??
have you checked water in fuel, milky oil etc?
Just recently had a new 4.8L petty donk put in my troll due to previous owner not servicing it properly, basically burnt the insides of the motor out dumping oil etc into exhaust and LOTSA LOTSA thick white smoke. Mine was basically doing the same as yours
Check all the obvious things 1st before delving further into it

If diesel white means unburnt fuel, so it can be glow plug related or compression related. Sounds like we can rule compression out by it still running well. It could have a faulty head gasket or cracked and when it gets to temp the crack or fault in the gasket is allowing coolant into the bore causing insufficient combustion until its all forced out the cylinder.

3.0 ltr diesel had a full service done 5000 ago $800 later.

Could be Glow Plug/s on the way out.
How many K's has the truck done? 40K, 80K, 120K,160K,200K?
It is possible that it is totally unrelated to the service done.

the trucks done just under 230 ks . had it checked out today prognosis head estimated cost $3000.plus
was told you have two options patch it up with chemiweld and get rid of it or spend the $$$$ and problem solved.
I think getting rid and buying something else is probably buying another problem.nothing wrong with the gu I think
they are great definately a step forward from the old 60series.

Think of it this way, you'll have a 4x4 you like with a fresh engine, fits NADS and you'll
have years of trouble free driving. REALLY A 60s
