Attached to the rear of the rear diff housing... has the rear brake lines going to it with a spring attached to the vehicle body.

Not saying it is 100% the issue but if you have a lift you can...

Welcome mate , the bonnet prop if used right I think are better than struts , had enough of getting a bonnet smack to the back of the head from dodgy struts .
