I would encourage to do that. From what I've heard diesel tanks can build up gunk inside lot quicker than other fuel.
The water is the source of the bio contamination according what I've read....

Take it to a workshop , nah it is possible to diy if your handy with the tools , it's a bloody big messy job from what I've seen and it would be handy if you had a press .
