Check the earths. Even add another from the motor to the body then to the battery. GU's are notorious for earthing issues.

OK here is the latest.
The helpfull man at patrolapart says that the 2005 GU TD42ti does NOT have a starter relay fitted. The circuit is ignition barrel, straight to the starter solenoid.

So even with the dead vacuum pump replaced, new booster, cylinder etc the clutch still felt very wrong, like crushing an unopened coke can. I went to a very reputable clutch shop in Western Sydney...

I am also still around. Dealing with two jobs and a lot of simultaneous life issues to deal all at once, which is leading to very few time wrenching the Patrol. There is light on the end of the road...
