It would be more likely oil from the breather where it returns to the inlet piping it starts leaking at the front of the turbo because it is a low point and the seal isn't that great.

I don't know much about the 2.8's mate but that is the ideal spot to get boost readings.

Agree with Tony on the thermostat being kept standard. for normal daily driving.
