tuckertrucker The Haynes manual page 16-12 shows the TD42. Yep, just earth the starter relay and bypass the switch altogether as per a manual transmission. I have amended post #3.
The manual pages EL 80 and EL 81 show the relay as 142 M under the cover next to the battery.
Page EL17 shows which wires to bridge out, but the Haynes manual is a bit different.

P/N inhibitor is on the side of the trans. It closes the circuit in P or N so the start relay can work.

Ac idle up. Will go from the switch on the firewall to the white diaphragm that acts on lever for accelerator.
For me it was the wheel bearings. I personally wouldn't touch teh steering box. If theres any play what so ever in the bearings, nip it up.

Maybe by renewing a few earth straps in and around the engine bay,
may and a big maybe, ,might help any electrical problem
Mine did a bit, but new mounts eliminated it and made resting on handbrake noise much much better..
For vibrations I'd start with gearbox and engine mounts..
I think it's normally the left hand ones which fail..
But while your at it might aswell change all 4..
Just ensure you have the correct...
I reckon the vibration will be the engine mounts, mine did the exact same thing.
