I never fixed it and neither did he. Just a small top up...

Hey mate. Is that the Aircon compressor covered in coolant. It could be the very common zd30 coolant leak behind the timing cover.
Had the same on my 3L.

As above and check your intercooler and piping too. Our old zd30 had a similar grinding sound on start up but would quiet down after a minute or so.

Ended up being a crack in the IC, crack closes...

G'day mate. How exactly is the noise grindy? Is it louder under boost / load ?
Just curious whether it could be the cracked EGR pipe behind the motor near the snail. My noise was first diagnosed...

Good to hear they have arrived clubby. Hope they work out. Ironically one of my workmates who recently took his family through NT, Kimberleys etc... Has those panels and he had no issues with them. ...
