I would get an "Apron" made for the front of your van,across the drawbar
also think about protection for your rear windows.
Maybe some perspex cut to shape using suction cups might work.

I like the idea of clamp on ones also for towing but I'd replace the factory ones also, they just get ripped off because they are too stiff

buy truck mudflaps...they are cheap and you can just cut them to shape and they come in different widths

G'day Bindi. I'll tell you what I know and what I've done from my experience, as I've been in the exact position as you after I bought my CRD.
First thing I searched was, do CRD's need a EGR block....
