Clutch master rebuild.
Service Starter mtr .
Replace all water and vac hoses.
Flush cooling system.
before you remove manifolds.
New thermostat.
Service alternator.
list is endless

Take a pic at each stage, so you can go backwards threw your folder and install everything how it came off..

Gasket remover & / or a good narrow paint scraper.
Make sure you got all the necessary parts before you start.
Allow another 1/2 of the time, because it always takes longer. Start on Saturday...

Yeah mate I have had a rear seal go and a mate had the exactly the same problem as you and it was an internal seal.

That's exactly what it is.. It's a noise suppressor.. the wire will run to the main battery bolt on the back of the alt and the unit just bolts to earth.. they are used to cancel out small voltage...
