I own of a 2000 series 11 4.2td patrol , i've had it about 4 years now and it had 150k's on it when we got it ( stock standard condition ) , I've done a few mods to it to set it up for touring , i've put a 2" lift under it , 285/75/16 BFG A/T's , rock sliders replace the standard side steps , dual battery set-up to power the 2 power points on the back of the centre console and the fridge plug in the rear & rear LED spot light also a anderson plug on the rear towbar for charging the campertrailer batteries , home made rear drawer .
The only mods to the engine currently is a 3" exhaust system and boost & pyro gauges on a pillar pod , it's like all things a work in progress anyway here's some pics :
This is just after we drove from Townsville to Brisbane

Hey Waz, nice rig matey. I to have a GU 4.2TD with the same mods you have , I put Mickey Tompson ATZ's on just yesterday, $1680 for 5, I put 285/75/16 & noticed quite a difference in power loss, not that it was that powerful before, it also threw the speedo out by about 6klms at 100 k's.
Did you feel much in the way off power loss?

And if anyone knows I have seen a thread somewhere that says you can buy different gear drives for the speedo from Nissan ,to fix the error, meaning if I have a 16 tooth gear fitted, I could buy a 17 tooth gear to fix the error.

Cheers, Rick:wink:

Yeah Rick , Mine had a slight loss of power when i fitted my 285's , when i put the 3" exhaust on it helped , I still need to get mine tuned to suit the exhaust , my speedo is out aswell but i just drive to suit

Hey Waz, can you keep me informed when you decide to get more power out of your rig, I'd be interested to see how much better it goes after a tune. I'm on a tight budget so I want to keep my mods to a minimum. Also I have read in a thread somewhere that you can buy different gears for the speedo cable where it bolts into the gearbox. I think mine has 16 teeth & have been told you can buy 15, 16 & 17 teeth gears from Nissan for around $50. I am going to chase this up and I will let you know.
Cheers, Rick.

Thanks mate , it was pretty easy actually , the surround has two little slots near the bottom corners that you put a small flat blade screwdriver in and lever out then its a matter of carefully pulling the surround off , then undo the 4 screws that hold the old radio in ,unplug the harness', unscrew the brackets from the old one & attach to the new one , plug in the nissan harness to the new harness supplied - I did have to buy a aerial adapter because the standard nissan aerial has a 2 small plug fitting and the new stereo is 1 large plug one ( $12 from Autobarn ) then put the screw new stereo in , pop surround back on - all done
