G'day from a newbie to the whole forum thing. Been looking through all the threads and decided to register cause I have a 2004 3.0 litre Patrol that at 60K klms decided to blow a head gasket and empty the wallet pretty quickly. I now find that after the vehicle has been repaired, goes very well NOW, but has a flat spot on acceleration whilst cruising or going through the gears from 3 to 5. I have been told that it may be the MAF and or it's sensor switch. I know the MAF is a hot wire sensor, does it just need a good clean. Also whats the feeling about blanking off the EGR valve?
Welcome any comments or advice.

Welcome John.
Tons of info around about both EGR blocking and MAF cleaning.
If you look in the Manuals area you will find a comprehensive doco on the ZD30, check there first.

Thanks for the warm welcome - had an old Hilux for a thousand years (13 yrs old & 340,000 klm) before splashing out on the Patrol - had all kinds of problems with it - most caused by the dealer - shame really cause it has started to spoil the whole Patrol experience.

Hearing all these horror stories about the ZD30 engine. Don't know who to believe?

Hey JohnD
The only advice I can give is to 'get back on the horse' and keep riding. I'm hoping you'll forget the past and enjoy what you have. We're all here to help.
Take care out there.
