Hey all just bought my 1st gq patrol. I'm interested in doing a 4 inch lift and would like to know the minimum requirements to do it. I realise i'll need shocks, springs, ext brake lines what else?

Drop boxes adjustable panhards extended trailing arms come to mind.
Extended swaybar link pins.

Brake proportioning valve bracket, dropped boxes, castor correction or extended radius arms adjustable panhards, I got extended lower trailing arms some reckon you don't have to but mine were a much stronger unit. I bought a complete package for 3k and fitted myself to save some coin. I bought the package as a tried and tested deal. IMHO I think it's the best way to go

get onto suspension stuff they are quite good and will deliver to your door within the day if your local. The bloke that owns it is really easy to talk to and very helpful. Their prices are very competitive too. What others have posted is about all you will need.

Darren, the first thing 2 be doing before anything else is ringing the RTA Technical Vehicle Enquiries 1300 137 302 and find out what laws are currently in place for modified vehicles, As far as I'm aware the laws haven't changed yet and for a 4inch lift you will require an engineers certificate.
Cheers

Were did you get it from? Something like this http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=31_32_33_179&products_id=2911 or this http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=31_32_33_179&products_id=2769. I would like to pay most of it of so what places do finance.

I have a 4inch lift but I bought everything seperatly it cost extra but I think I have a top setup
My thinking is that kind of lift means you want to play hard I recomend getting drop radius arms, extended lower control arms and adjustable upper control arms to correct the pinion angle
DONT GO CASTOR CORRECTION BUSHES THEY ARE SH!T AND THE DONT FLEX.
fit the longest possible shock you can, and the rest of the componants needed to finish the lift

Want to set it up as an all rounder so will be carting the family round when i get home from driving trucks, little bit of touring and the tougher stuff with th club. Only going 4inch as everyone in club said to pretty much. Still only gona run 33's.

I didnt mention either it already has a 2inch lift as well. After looking round its gona cost minimum 3grand to do it properly which wont leave any cash for other mods. It will only b an allrounder truck so im thinking some 30mm coil spacers, 33's and front locker mite do for now. what are people's thoughts and what other mods will I need to do? as long as it goes where my 60 series went ill b happy

Leave the 2" in fit some good 33's and go with the locker. While your at it get the rear diff re-shimmed and there wont be many places you cant go.

Totally agree. Leave the lift as it is for now. Spend your coin on a locker and some good mud tyres. Drive it a lot and see how far you get with just those mods.
Maybe lash out and get adjustable shocks to keep it stiffer while touring

Agree with the above two posts your truck will go any where the old 60 did unless the suspensions shot

I have been thinking of lift kits as well and rang the RTA number (1300 137 302). The guy said the maximun lift without needing an engineers certificate was 1/3 of the suspension travel upwards, that is to say, if the total suspension travel was 6 inches and assuming normal ride height was half way (ie. at the 3 inch mark) then the maximun lift is 1/3 of 3 inches - meaning more than a 1 inch lift needs a certificate. The guy was only guessing the the 6 inch suspension travel so I don't know how close that is for a GQ, does anyone know for sure?
Thanks.
