G'day Nissan 4x4 owners and navi's (bless their muddy little hearts). I'm Ben and the relatively new owner of a series 3 2003 patrol, i am from western Sydney and love driving around Lithgow (Mt walker is on my need mods for list That last section i really want to and will some day asap drive) Zig zag and Yalwal down the coast are my usual destinations as well as a few trips out around hill end.
I must confess i posted a question before doing this intro, to be honest i was in a panic about my MAF sensor and thought the initial intro was to be attached to first post. As such i can already say this forum is most useful and i was supplied with very useful advice which i have used already. Great site and great people. Hopefully i can give some advice as my knowledge grows. Thanks for having me on board.
Ben Cochrane.

Thanks Todd, yeah its good to find another local on here. My cousin and i have been going to yalwal for a few years now, the bass fishing can be sensational, haven't been for a while though as the weather and no winch on either of our trucks has us second guessing the good tracks down there. Over due. Do you get up to zig zag or out to lithgow in your truck much?

Don't get out much at all these days Ben, last day trip I went on was 2 Zig Zag / Newnes and that was back in October last year, Wasn't even in my Patrol as I was rebuilding my Auto geatbox
More of a family day trip, some pics here if your interested: http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?6443-Day-Trip-Newnes-State-Forest-(-Monday-4th-October-2011-)
Unfortunately I really don't have the spare cash 2 be risking breaking things....... I will get back into soon...... really want 2 get my 4 inch suspension back in and engineered before I go serious off road, but before the suspension goes in I got 2 get rid of my dirtbike ( the boss has spoken! ):(:(:(
Don't know anyone looking at buying a dirt bike do you??? *L*
Do you get up that way much?
Cheers

I am in the same boat with regards to breakages, looking at more tuffish day trips as opposed to hardcore tracks and bog holes. Every time i try a bog hole i seem to go through just behind people with massive tires and get stuck. Have you done the black hand fire trail down from newnes down the escarpment to (starts with b Cant remember at the moment) but you end up doing a loop out to capertee somewhere. I have been to zig zag 3 times, once got bogged in the first hole and got towed home by a landcruiser first time (water in car and presto limp mode)and the other i was with my old man who cant really handle the getting chucked around stuff to much so i am yet to locate this track. The 3rd time i was alone so just went to glow worm tunnel and had a look at the main tracks. Let me know when your lift is in, if your doing a day trip be good to tag along. Nothing to crazy as yet im running standard height for now. Lift coming soon.

Here is a Google map of my day trip at Newnes, its also posted in the link I posted earlier: http://g.co/maps/yavqy
Bit messy, as I haven't had the time to clean it up, but you will get the idea of where we traveled.
All tracks that I done can be done in a stock 4b
