Just introducing myself. Joey here, I have a GU 98' 2.8L TD, first patrol, and I love it.
Need to ask heaps of questions, as so much I want to learn.
I had a bit a of bad luck staright 1 month after I brought. Ahhhhhh timing belt.
Anyway looks like I have avoided major damage, I do have a bot of a tappit sound about 2000rpm.
Any suggestions what it would be?

Can I suggest you copy your question over to one of the mechanical areas as not everyone reads the intros.

I don't have the answer to your question - I don't even know how to check compression on a diesel :-)
