Hey folks,
Just bought myself a BIG rig, got this for $500

4" dobinson leaf spring lift, 2" body lift, nitro gas shocks, reco'd L28E (Needs 1 new valve in cyl no.6 due to previous owner dropping washer down spark plug hole, firing it without noticing)
Very little rust except usual spots, triangle corner windows driver and passenger, rear bar, some in sliding windows, tiny bit in rain gutters, and sills are a tad rusty (Will be getting body shop to replace). Mostly cosmetic, lots of little bits to fix.
Would love some advice where to start with rear bar, i've been googling for where to buy 100x50 5.0 box steel in brisbane but have no idea where to get just 2m of it + end caps. Know how to use old brackets from buggered rear bar, weld to new bar and put together.
:) Oh, and her name is Rosie, she's a nasty b*tch :P

Welcome, MetalGman and nasty b Rosie!!
'Bits of Steel', Sandgate Road Virginia is where I'd go for the metal you are looking for. Dunno if they have outlets elsewhere.
The other scrap outlets like Eagle and Globe seem to have disappeared.

G'day and welcome to the forum.
Plenty of Qld supporters on here to help you. They wheel and meet up fairly regularly. Big meet up in October this year. Call Big Rig or watch his posts. He's the organizer.
Take care out there.

She's a ripper fer $500, well done mate, the tyres are worth more than that!!! they are one tough 4x4 trust me.
You don't need end caps, weld a plate in, do you have a Sims metal over there?, they have offcuts.
Go to a gate maker, they would cut it to length for you.
Cheers, the ferret

Thanks folks!, blood blimey, didn't expect so many hoys. Thanks for the sims metals advice, haven't got one near eagleby though. Really need to find somewhere in yatala industrial area or nearby to grab some.
Want to make the fattest, toughest rear bar you've ever seen, I figure 20kg extra isn't going to make a HUGE different to her kW/tonne :P considering she only make 70kW and weighs 2tonnes :P

Oh, does anybody know if the L28E is an interference or non interference engine?
