G'day all,

I have brought a GQ patrol 4.2 diesel 1993 with Auto to use around farm and tow boat. Brought it as mechanically good, but am now replacing everything as I go.

I am trying to download manual as I usually RTFM before posting questions, but this site appears to work backwards. Should I post all these questions seperatly so I can get 25 up or is this suffieceint for admin to realise I am genuine and allow me access to manual.

So here goes......

Torque Specs on Replacement Water Pump?

Do i need some form of sealant on Waterpump, or gasket is okay?

How do I replace diesel filter and bleed?

Oil capactiy on Diesel and what is best flush additive?

Fan Belt tension settings?

Aircondictioner belt removed, is there easy way to check if gas still in system?

Instructions for front swivel rebuild?

Deisel is leaking from fuel tank, but not top, its dry, other common areas?

Thanks in advance

Paul from country Victoria

Welcome to the forum mate and good question.

If you really need the manual quickly then just go welcome another 24 members to get access to it.

In relation to all your questions I would put up one post titled "Loads of questions" or something like that in another section as a lot of people don't read the intro's and you should get a better response that way.

G'day mate and welcome aboard - great people, information and laughs to be found on here, so join in to make the most of it!!!

It's obvious you've taken the time and need the manual mate. A quick cut and paste of something like our welcomes above into 24 new members introductions and you are on on your way boss ... doesn't take long.

The only two I can assist with is it's good to put some sealant on the water pump, and the tank leak could be from around the seal - is it only when full (ish) or all the time? The level of diesel will dictate the height of the leak to a degree.

Enjoy!!

Welcome to the forum.

They normally don't remove the A/C belt if the system runs out of gas, It may have just not been refitted.

Normally the belt gets removed if the compressor seizes. With your hand grab the pulley on the front of the A/C compressor, you should be able to spin this freely.

Next grab the centre clutch plate of the compressor (inside part of pulley) and turn, this will be firmer to turn and will have spots where it turns freely and other spots where it is firm (like an engine on compression vs exhaust strokes) A/C compressor are just like a rotary engine.

If it feels ok you will need to fit a belt to check further.

You can have a look at the condenser, compressor and A/C hoses for signs of oil (clear oil or it may have a dye in it) this can indicate a gas leak.

There is no real way for you to check gas levels.

If you get the belt fitted and the A/C system doesn't cut in we can bypass the pressure switch as a test, if it does cut in then we know it is out of gas and you will need to take it to a licenced A/C specialist.

Cheers Rodney
