Hi,
Please forgive my lack of knowledge and indecisiveness :)
And thanks in advance for you help. Much appreciated!
I did ask a question on here the other day about the newer 2007 - 2010 Ti TD 3.0 Automatic consumption BUT I have decided with a lot of thought that I think for the price difference & depreciation I will go with an older GU Ti with the 4.5 litre petrol like 1998/1999. (I want automatic tranny and Ti model so in those years, I have to go with petrol)
Another reason for the change is I have a 100 Series right now and I would like something not so exxy as the 2010 type patrol that I can take offroad sometimes and not care so much about panels etc etc...
I still think they look comfortable enough to go on long drives in?? Maybe not quite as comfy as a 2010 but hey.... Big price diffference.. And I would always be scared to damage her offroad.
Now, I have the same question but with the different engine..
I have searched the net and found many many different fuel consumtion rates - big differences so I am unsure what to believe.
As I drive a lot of kms (but need a 4x4) this is one thing I need to know.
The following is RE: 98/99 etc GU 4.5 Petrol
Firstly they are mostly manual transmission figures and maybe they vary so wildly due to maintenance and thing like faulty air flow sensor/meter and old air filter etc.
But I was wondering what fuel consumtion people get with automatic (or even manual I guess) around town and on highway (100-110kmh).
If you reply, could you please specify manual or auto transmission, year and driving style (hammer it off the lights or take it easy) etc.
Dont care about offroad and towing costs as I realise they will be more and I dont care about that cost
Also, I have been looking at some for sale that already have the old style LPG systems on them. Anyone know how much extra you use of LPG?
But mainly, I was told by a mechanic that the 4.8 litre newer petrol engine burn valves out with LPG.
I dont know if its true but he is a well known 4x4 mechanic and has a good name. Is LPG reliable on the 4.5 Litre versions?
Oh and I should say I have had a GOOD run with reliabilty with the landcruisers doing over 400,000kms sometimes (petrol) with right maintenance.
I know patrols have a good rating for reliability but are they on par with landcruiser with high Kms? (as I dont want to buy a money pit as the ones I am looking at mostly have 190,000 - 260,000kms (petrol 4.5)) - Obviously I mean a maintained and checked one - not a heap of abused Cr*p.
Thank You
