Well now that depends on you,all models of cars have issues, just that the zd30 stands out
more because of a few blow ups,but if you look around theres lots running about with out the nads done
my self i have a 2002 model i did the mods just for piece of mind but in saying that if it blows well maybe it was meant to be, if not its a bonus

Same issues as the Old Ones? In a single word, No
However there are a few handy and relatively cheap mods that you can do if you wish.

Provent 200 catch can . research this mod first . good place to start I reckon . If its the zd30 motor take the engine cover off and inspect your intercooler . the original one tend to fail and leak .

What do you use the truck for Touring, Beach, Mountains and Mud? Do you tow a fair bit and is the load lightish (Camper, Box, Bike Trailer) or heavy (mid to large Van etc)
Boots is correct, a catch can on the pre CRD ZD30's seems a popular and worthwhile mod, Boost gauge is handy if you are nervous about spikes. Def need a boost gauge if you block EGR. Illegal but makes a huge difference to the amount of particulate and grunge you get in the oil. If you go done the path of performance Chips then an EGT gauge is a necessity IMHO
