Nice to see someone bringing a bit of character back to life and keeping it on the road.

I had an MQ, and the repair I couldn't work out, although a pro might have, was that a leak in the scuttle under the windscreen trapped water under the front carpet, and rusted out the body mount attachments. So my advice is to pull up the front carpet and have a good look. They had mud traps at the front of the rear wheel arch too, among other places - not forgetting that scuttle under the screen.

Thanks for all the help I bought the mk 1987 patrol lwb diesel wagon and have started work on all the little troubles. I've found heaps of helpful info on the forum and will be keen to help others where I can. Let the fun begin
