Running Rich

I have a 4.2 petrol. it is running rich and the air cleaner really smells of fuel, can anyone please help me?

If it's a carb model the needle and seat can cause flooding if not shutting off properly

when the engine is warm is the choke butterfly vertical?

I reckon you would have checked the air cleaner to make sure it is not blocked, are there any prefilters or other possible obstructions? (not likely I know, but...)
