Is there a noticeable difference in power and economy when using premium diesel?

I haven't really noticed a difference between premium and standard diesel, but I have noticed a difference sometimes between stations, or when adding new fuel.

That is not surprising as it is estimated that something like 10-20% of the diesel sold in Ukraine is sub-standard.

I was wondering too. I have been using caltex vortex only and getting almost 1000km from a full tank (including sub) now trying bp but I've done some work (new turbo and diesel chip) first full tank so we'll see if economy changes

If the servo supplying the diesel has a high flow pump for truck then its probably a sure bet your only getting standard diesel as the diesel pumps are usually in the same spot on one side you have "premium" diesel and the other high flow which is just diesel and 2c a litre cheaper. This is just how i see it but the servo isnt gonna tear up the ground to put a new tank in for premium diesel so its probably just standard diesel tagged differently and chargin us more. On the other note i notice a difference between which servo i go to and i always try to use caltex as i seem to get more out a tank of diesel than others.

Yeah me too caltex diesel has given me more to the liter but on the highway I always get better mileage as should all. Round town not much difference all depends how big my foot is & if in a hurry.

I have tried the BP premium diesel and have not noticed any difference in usage, so now I use caltex vortex its cheaper than the bp stuff and get around the same millage.

I have tried both Caltex Vortex and BP Ultiment(spelling) and found that the troll went better with the BP. Paul

Very interesting. I've just started using the vortex from Caltex and having pretty good results so far, but too soon to tell. Thanks for all the input guys.

I used to work for Caltex - not sure if it's all stations but where I was (Major highway site) ALL diesel pumps were Vortex Diesel - highflow for the trucks & normal diesel pumps over with the cars. I find in both my Navara & my daughters Kia Rio that Caltex fuel gets me further (Diesel in Navara / Vortex 98 in the Rio) - crazy I know cuz my old A4 Audi went further on BP fuel ... go figure????

I just tried shell diesel with 200mL of diesel power additive between the 2 tanks. I did 300km around town and 750 km highway just returned 10.8 Litres per 100 km down from 13 t0 14 litres per 100

I have noticed that shell 'ultra' seems to go a bit further but I have also read that premium diesel will raise EGT's so that is worth keeping an eye on!

I'm running 250 to 300 degrees around town and the most I've got to in 400 on the highway overtaking B doubles up the hills on the bruce hightway
