the online manual is your friend!! I found it very helpful for the info you seek, including using the listed oils in the gear box and tfr case for the temps you encounter where you live.

Hard to recommend a grade of engine oil without knowing how worn the engine is

I can't type the 26th letter of the alphabet on this keyboard, use 2 instead - I use 29 [edit] Z9 oil filters that state on the packaging that they contain a non return valve.

I can't access the manuals from my phOne and I don't have access to a computer :/
Where do you get your filters from?

Where are you Shaun.
Use gen manual for specs on oil and a quality brand name oil filter with anti drain valve.
you mean Z9 oil filter?.

tb42 takes a z170 filter, 20w50 oil. personally i run penrite hpr30(20w60) in my tb42e and when the head came off at 335k ther was absolutely no sludge or carbon deposits in the top end

I love penrite also, even run in my gtr skyline ,tried expensive synthetic but went back to HPR-30, as it was doing the job fine before.
could afford to double oil changes for the price.
Came across "SAKURA" filter, made for Sakura Japan, and told OEM filter by local bullseye man. under $10 each.

P-No C-8020.------------$9.95
Interchangeable with.
15208-9C600.-----------$
15208-W1103.-----------$
15208-W1116.-----------$
Z170.-------------------$22-25.

15208 are gen numbers.

yes, Robo, the key for the 26th letter of the alphabet no longer works on my laptop since it absorbed half a glass of chardonnay a while ago :-) I've stolen your letter to update my post. Now, I am not saying that this is advisable, but it fits and I have observed no ill effects.

I'm also a fan of Penrite.

dragging this 1 from the depths ...

the penrite hpr30(20w60). is that oil good on a tb42e that runs 50% of the time on gas?
hoping to do a oil change before qld meet
