Very happy with it, although it could use a little more torque down low. Looking into options for the torque converter to try and help it

Very nice engine & GQ !! ... A question please : from which Nissan car does it come from (assuming you are claiming for low end torque) ?

The Donor car was a Cima. They run the same auto box as the Patrol, making for an easier mate up. I think the main problem is the size of the converters.

Patrol on left - Cima on right

The car has been parked up for a bit and I recently got motivated to get it back out there. In the last few weeks I've finished off some of the stuff that has been bugging me for ages. Then after the trip up the powerlines last weekend, I stripped both diffs out and did a full rebuild on them both. So with all this new found motivation for the car, I started on the rear drawers this weekend.
And this weekend I started on building my new drawers

Nice custom ride you have there Mike!

A mate has the same wheels, he masked them up and painted with a grey hammertone, then polished the spokes, look very similar to yours :)

Took me about 3 months to do the engine swap, 6 weeks of that was wiring alone. Alot of time was spent just looking at it and figuring out the best way to do things. I don't like doing things twice :)

so wat was the $$$ damage for the conversion ??

XLR8

The car was purchased 5 years ago for $5K and as it sits today with all the mods it owes me no more than $13K including a low Km TB42 i had fitted 18 months after picking the car up.

The V8 conversion was a little over $5500. A rough break down - Front cut ~ $2200, Power Steering mods ~ $300, Drive shafts ~ $450, A/C ~ $600, Exhaust ~ $1000 so far (ceramic coated extractors approx another $3K), Fuel Pump, filters & lines from a GU 4.8 ~ $500, plus another $4-500 on belts, fluids, plugs etc. There were other expenses such as diagnostic tools and software, special tools etc but these were all covered by the sale of parts from the TB42. I priced up getting the same conversion done by "professionals" and it was going to be $12K without A/C.
By doing everything myself, I saved a fortune and most of the stuff I had to pay to have done was done by either mates or mates of mates so prices were kept to a minimum.

I did a contra with a local supplier. Got the Britax/Revolution kit 35W/6000K. I wasn't keen on the 6000 because everyone has said the reflection off traffic signs is bad but I haven't found it to be a problem. I've adjusted the lights down a bit so they don't blind oncoming traffic. Now people only get annoyed when I pull right up behind them at traffic lights
