So my gu 3ltr with 175 000 on the clock gets her turbo replaced this week all 2700 worth with a service the question to ask is while she'd there do I do the nads and new 3inch exhust new cooler and turbo timer or do I sell her and with the cash 15 to 20 k Some sucker will but it I paid 20 for it. Use the money to buy a 4.2 turbo gq for about 10ish G and spend the rest on our wedding?
I'm ready for the 4.2 vs 3.0 fight and the gu vs gq fight to begin haha need some help as I want a car asap and to go to the forum meet up in october
Cheers guys

Don't do anything to the existing truck other than make it mechanically sound. Offload it, go the 4.2 diesel and use the money for your wedding - the truck will always be there then (GQ or GU doesn't matter - the engine will last and far better doing work to it than on a rig you're thinking of selling anyway).
Your missus will adore you for it (they dream of getting married from kids mate, not like blokes, so the more you put into the day, not just money, will have endless impact for her - and Jenny's a good woman who deserves it you cheap skate!!!! lmao). And you end up with a rig that if treated right, will last for years and be solid as a rock.
My two cents ...

I've got an early GQ.
They are getting a bit long in the tooth in the body dept - body mounts need replacing, $500 + labour, roof rust in some, window rubbers shrinking back, interiors getting tired etc etc.
That said I've seen a couple of rusty GUs. White ones, so they may have had a hard life in a mine or something?
An interesting choice you've got there!

Which vehicle is more family friendly in the future? As you'll have which ever one for a while.
At least the gu you know the history, has a new turbo and serviced. Leave the mods for now.
The 10ish gq owner is most probable thinking to himself, "I'll get some sucker to pay 10ish"
P.S. The wedding is about you 2. don't get bogged down in all the details, keep it intimate and personal - something you both will remember long after any 4b has sunk in the mud..

cheers guys the wedding details are all sorted just paying it off would be able to pay it all cash very soon with out selling and 10ish for a gq had the lift lockeres and otherthings my gu does't just don't want to be a 3ltr statistic hard call and can't afford the 4.2 tdi motor swap into the gu. 2 turbo and mechanics suggested the swap and they don't do that kind of work after the amout of people they see with a zd30 up here with all the mine vehicles
