Mine do!!! They're pretty tough mate ... always depends on how much you cane it (Dhuck and I do), but pretty reliable and up to the task mate.

If you go hard at it, then sure carry a spare, but under general driving using a locker, they won't break a sweat let alone any teeth ... don't over tighten the Allen bolts in the hub - common mistake and the hub casing cracks under the stress ... not a failure of the hub like many people think, but a failure of the mechanic who tightened them.

I also got a set of hub reinforcement rings from the lads at Torq4x4 to prevent this from happening.

Most of the comp guys run standard hubs without drama. The auto hubs are meant to be weaker, but they are generally pretty tough too.

speaking of which finally got my manual hubs of a GQ so another step closer to fitting my front locker Woo Hoo and will be investing in the renforcing rings for the hubs

You will probable find most that have said they don't last probable also don't know how to use auto locking hubs.

Maybe they are a little weaker, not that I have seen any proof of this...... if your overly concerned about them, just take the auto locking mechanism out and run them like a manual hub.

If your engaging your diff lock, in my opinion you should have it in the lock position not auto

Cheers

I think most of us here drive patrols because we know that they are the toughest! But you can break anything if you try hard enough.

Are the reinforcing rings really necessary? I've seen where they mount and I've seen where the hubs tend to break, both are in two different spots. Don't let me talk you out of them, I just can't justify handing over any cash for them. IMO if you don't drive a comp truck, or drive like a total dick, then your hubs should be fine.

He drives like the second option you gave!!!! lmao!!!

The rigs take the weight from the bolts rather than the alloy housing - they simply prevent housing split if and when the bolts are over tightened. I go at it a bit, so for $40 a pair, well worth it for me.

G'day,

I know that an air locker is locked on when using it but then most people turn it off as soon as they are past what they need it for but I run a lokka that is always on and I have never had a problem with my hubs but I have snapped an axle once. (Tight corner, down hill, with wheel hard up against a rock I couldn't climb easily and couldn't reverse back up the hill). I do understand that that the lokka is specifically designed to let go when needed (foot off the throtle).

I am not trying to agrue the point of Lokka over air locker just that I have used mine for years and never had a problem with the hubs.

I hope this helps.

P.S. I reckon the TJM prolocker looks good as well but never know anyone with one and my lokka is still going strong so no change for me in the near future.

Cheers.

Sorry let me clarify my last statement. My lokka is always on when the hubs are locked in. Obviously I unlock the hubs when not fourwheel driving and on bitumen between tracks, etc.

Hey this is awesome, usually you get the arguments that it is arb or nothing but I love my lokka and I don't need to think about it and it does it's job and for the price and by installing myself with a mechanical friend I got away with it for a quarter of the price of an airlocker!
